OK, I have been looking at and thinking about this for some time now. Like a year. I am slow. Not Dead, just slow. Really ever scene we came back from Dragon Con. Aug 2007. I have also talked to sever of the DarkMoonPhoto Models and this seam like something everyone would enjoy doing. Or most want to do. As follows:
Many of the Models here at DarkMoonPhoto want to have better exposure then I have been offering with the Art Images I am doing. But the models want to keep what they are doing as Art.
To an Art Photographer, and I have e-mailed with many about this subject, doing art images and doing stock images are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
Definitions:
:: -- Art Photography -- “Taking an image, and combining that image with other images, textures, and or effects to produce a final image that is perceived as an Art Image.” Same definition as in film days. I like to use the yardstick of Magic to Judge if an image is Art or Not. If the Image has Magical Property with in it, then, to me, it is Art. Erotica can be the Magic I am referring to. Any Glamour is not Glamour unless it Contains Magic.
:: -- Stock images -- The images taken for others to use or edit for there purpose. One of the categories of stock images is for others (Third Parties) to take these stock images and combine elements to produce an image that that is perceived as an Art Image. There are other purposes for the use of stock images but I am only interested in the Art Aspects in this discussion.
Most Art Photographer do not want there finished images altered or changed by anyone for any reason. In altering a Finished Art Image for any reason is a large insult to the Art Photographer. Even reframing an Art Image is considered an insult to the Art Photographer. The darkroom work that Art Photographer does to an image is considered the part of the image that is the Photographer True Art. Not so much the taking of the image, but the computer time spent enhancing or manipulating the image, is to the Art Photographer Art; his/her Art.
The thoughts above are sheared by most all Art Photographer so Most Art Photographer try to control all unedited image they shoot.
Now to the main point of this e-post:
I think that we can do both. I can continue doing Interpretive Art Images and Do Stock Images for others to use as Elements in there Art Interpretations.
The Stock images will be released to DeviantArt for DeviantArt Artists only. No outside of DeviantArt usage will be allowed. No Commercial Usage will be allowed. Our Stock images for Art Usage Only on DeviantArt Only.
Anyone on DeviantArt that uses one of DarkMoonPhotos Stock images in Full or in Part well be required to Friend Link to the DarkMoon Stock Account here and a Link to the Finished work of Art will be required.. We will favor the Artists image that our image was used for. This will help us as well as help The Artist using our images for there Art..
I will also be posting many background images I will be taking and have taken over the years.
I am very interested to see what DeviantArt Artists do with our images.
